NLIHC and PAHRC’s Tips and Tricks for Making the Most of the National Housing Preservation Database Webinar

October 7, 2025 by Danielle Drew

On October 15th, 2025, at 2:00pm ET, the Public and Affordable Housing Research Corporation (PAHRC) and the National Low Income Housing Coalition (NLIHC) are teaming up to offer “Tips and Tricks for Making the Most of the National Housing Preservation Database” webinar.

About the National Housing Preservation Database (NHPD):

With de-duplicated, address-level data on nearly 80,000 federally assisted rental properties across the nation, the NHPD is useful for housing advocates, researchers, tenants, and policymakers. The National Housing Preservation Database (NHPD) was created by the Public and Affordable Housing Research Corporation (PAHRC) and the National Low Income Housing Coalition (NLIHC) in 2011 in an effort to provide communities with the information they need to effectively preserve their stock of public and affordable housing. The database provides over 18,000 users access to de-duplicated information on federally assisted housing inventory across the US at no cost. The NHPD was created thanks to the generous support of the MacArthur Foundation, Fannie Mae, and HAI Group. The data in the NHPD come from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and include ten federally subsidized housing programs. Click here or use the QRCode below to visit/explore the NHPD mapping tool – you must register on the website to utilize the resources on the NHPD.

This webinar is designed for both experienced users looking to learn more and newcomers seeking to understand the NHPD’s functionality and benefits. Researchers from both organizations will walk through how to access and use the database, demonstrate key features, provide helpful tips for navigating the database, and will highlight recent updates to core resources, including the NHPD User Guide, FAQ page, and more.
